Default [CONFIRMED] No MW2 Dedicated Servers
Some of you may have read about the rumours surrounding whether dedicated server support will be available in the upcoming CoD:MW2.

This afternoon, during a live BASH episode, who should turn up but Infinity Wards community manager, Fourzerotwo.

A number of questions were put forward, including the dedi server question. Rob "fourzerotwo" Bowling replied with no - dedi servers will not be available. Multiplayer will run through a "IWNet" and servers will not be available for purchase. Listen servers only.

Furthermore, Bowling also confirmed that PunkBuster will not be supported, alternatively using the Valve Anti-Cheat (or VAC) system.

what is IWNet ? and no dedi server is means no linux bins, no win dedi patches and no normal internet servers more ?

Listen Server hosts will have limited control over the game. You can kick (unconfirmed banning) and disable some weapons and perks but nowhere near the amount of control server admins are accustomed to.

Well thats it then. The company that always said it's PC oriented has turned turtle and gone total console. ****ed if I'm gonna buy this shit, 'scuse my language but this is just UNBELIEVEABLE!! Someone tell me IW can't read a calender and that they think it's April 1st!!!

Looks like IWNet is another way of control, and manage player scores and updates... or piracy?

Remeber when they said ¨online- Auto update patch ¨ and ¨We want players to be famous¨

Then..No mods, no nothing, Everything through IWnet... could it be?

BTW:

¨No delay on PC for Modern Warfare 2. You'll also have Prestige Mode in PC as well as lots of Steam support. Hopefully min specs will be soon¨
