Rep Earl Blumenauer D-OR Becomes 1st to
Plan State of the Union Boycott

by Fox News Insider - As seen on Fox & Friends, Jan 06, 2018 - 3:38pm

An Oregon Democrat has become the first member of Congress to announce a boycott of the State of the Union address.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer, who represents much of Portland and its eastern suburbs, announced he will not attend the presidential tradition on January 30, Pete Hegseth reported.

Blumenauer said on Twitter that he would instead be "working at home listening to Oregonians about what they think about the State of the Union [address]."

He warned that the speech would be another example of President Donald Trump's "destructive, divisive" dialogue.
Rather than listening to another destructive, divisive speech by Trump, I will not attend this year’s annual address to Congress. Instead, like I did during his inauguration, I'll be working at home listening to Oregonians about what they think about the State of the Union! #SOTU

Blumenauer previously boycotted Trump's inauguration ceremony and also posted a series of 35 tweets blasting the president days after he took office.

On January 23, 2017, Blumenauer dubbed Trump the "liar-in-chief" and ripped the New Yorker for his "clear ego."

Blumenauer also borrowed quotes from Aesop and Abraham Lincoln in his critique of the president, slamming Trump for claims about crowd size at the inauguration.

He is also the author of the "No TRUMP Act" [No Taxpayer Revenue Used to Monetize the Presidency Act], which he reportedly drafted as a warning that Trump or his family may use the presidency for their own profit.
With Trump, there’s a dumpster fire a day. If we only fight those fires, we will lose. There’s strength in being FOR something.
