My motherboard died so I need to build a new machine. Here are the components I will be able to reuse.
Raptor 150X Hard Drive
500 GB Seagate HD
1TB external drive
Evga 8800 GT 512 Vid card.
4GB (4x1GB) Crucial DDR2 800 RAM
DVD Burner
Antec p182
So, I need a new motherboard and want to go ahead and get a new processor. My e6400 is dated and I want something a bit faster.
The most intensive thing I do is World at War but I want to make sure whatever I build can play the new Modern Warfare when it's released. By that time I will probably get a new video card.
I'd like to reuse my RAM if possible. Also, not going to go I7. Too much $$.
Also, I would like the motherboard to have an eSATA port. So, please give any specific suggestions.
Thanks. :)

Because you want to re-use the ram, it limits what you can get tbh
Can you not buy an eSATA back plate to increase the range of mobos?
they only cost £3 in the uk
Depends how much you really want a glorified esata slot on the mobo when a back plate would do it.
Gives people more of an idea what to suggest :wink2:
Ne wya off top of my head
Gigabyte GA-M720-US3
I think it will take a AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition Quad Core CPU (as the mobo is AM2+)
eSATA Backplate
all your bits should fit in it
U'd have to check to be sure

This MSI Motherboard (http://www.msicomputer.com/index.php?func=prodmbspec&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&cat3_no=&prod_no=1479#menu)is right up your alley. Its affordable and will use your hardware.

Thanks for the replies.
My brother in law has offered me a brand new in the box MSI x48 Platinum. Reviews on newegg look less than stellar but most of those are with DOA boards. Googling reviews looks like it's a decent board. One problem is I will have to buy new RAM. It uses DDR3. I saw some GSkill RAM (2x2GB) for ~$78 so that's not bad.
The last few boards I've bought were Gigabyte. How does MSI compare?
Still want to get a new processor. Dual or Quad? I mostly just do light stuff on the PC other than COD and maybe some high res pictures, etc. Will Modern Warfare 2 utilize 4 cores?
I could refuse the motherboard but I hate to seem ungrateful.

if u have the money get quad, least it gives u more ooomf
If you want middle of road power memory
3GB GeIL 1066MHz DDR3 Triple Channel Memory Kit
^^ That wont be to expensive
if u wanted 1800mhz the price gets silly for the benefit tbh in the desktop market

For this videocard mainboard change is fine. If you buy new processor you must buy also new ram to get most of it. Video will be bottleneck anyway. New mainboard and you good to go, for upgrade i will suggest new computer.

Finally got a chance to put my PC back together with the new parts. Everything went pretty smooth. And since I was going form a P35 gigabyte motherboard to the EP45, the layout was virtually identical. Didn't even need the book.
Will install COD in the next few days and hopefully play by the weekend.
