I thought to myself, man.... when are the mappers going to stop playing favoritism, either German or Russian, in their custom maps?? For example, Road to Hill. Balanced offense and defense are, in my opinion, a must. The combatant's skills must decide the outcome not the map design.
In this map, we find a T-34 and an early P4. Needless to say, it apparently takes a "lucky shot" to take out the T-34. Also paying attention to details is very important. For example, if one drives a vehicle into the open elevator...... you and it stay there. There is no getting out of the vehicle. Don't get me wrong, Road to Hill is a fun map to play. More so for the infantry enthusiasts.
Of course the majority of the new custom maps make a sincere effort at adhering to BOTH historical war accuracy and geography. (Like Berezina) To those mappers, I sincerely take my hat off in heartfelt thanks.
To the mappers of the imaginary locations or locations not related to the Eastern Front I thank you for the massive efforts taken. However, I must point out that those maps, if they're fairly obvious in an unbalanced condition, in both planning and combative nature, may disappear from many servers. Please, pay attention to details and fine tune your maps. Optimize them for maximum performance and reliability.
Granted, RO is all about historical accuracy and that's dandy, but lately... for the sake of variety, maps not directly related to the eastern front can and should be welcomed. All I'd ask for is well planned and balanced playability.

People should, for obvious reasons, realize there is a difference between constructive criticism and destructive criticism. One is helpful, the other is hurtful.
Some people unfortunately, don't know the difference yet. So, the simple answer is if you cannot help the situation, be polite and thank the mappers for their efforts. If however, you have constructive criticism coupled with suggestions for improvement of a map, then by all means, present your suggestions.
Now then with that said, let's see a flow of mini-reviews of the maps available for play in Red Orchestra. Please use the map name in the topic title of your actual review.
