Just started on my next Project.

It will be a conversion/reworking of CoD map Townville by baby seal clubber.
I loved this map in VCoD and think the way the map played would really suit RO.

Infantry only and wil be bigger than the original version. I also intend to add on to this map. Like AHZ did with Gunassault and Townassault.

I have planed a rural area leading upto the outskirts (Combined Arms map)
Townville itself (Infantry only)
A big city leading off the back of Townville (Urban Combined Arms)

Here's a couple of very early Screenshots:

If anyone has Ideas for Objective placements or any other suggestions, They would be welcome.

As always RGN will be the first place to have a beta version for testing.

Good luck with the project.

I remember this map from the COD days and it'll be a nice adition to RO. Street to street fighting maps are always my favourites. Can't stop playing Odessa.

Keep us updated on progress. :)

:) So in effect they will be 3 maps that could be played out in order, the approach to the town, then the battle in the town, and then the final battle in the city behind the town.

Nice Idea. :bravo: Suppose you could make the town a little more war torn looking etc? just to add to the flavour.

Good show old Chap :d Tally Ho!

The layout is very suitable for antiportals so use them.

One advice i can give you is try to angle some stuff.
It's Europe not USA towns have grown not in decennias
but it took centuries to form these towns and stuff was
builded in various shapes which is not the right angled shape
i see often in pictures of USA towns.

It takes time and sometimes is hard but you will be satisfied with the result.

Thanks Drecks
I am having some back street on the angles.
They will also be narrow and quite a few enterable and destroyed.

Decided to make it a bit larger and use the rest of the terrain I made.
I may even give it Vehicle suport for the outer areas but no be able to access the town.

Just a few Screenies of the church that will be at the russian end of the map.
Remember this is a german town not RUSSIAN, so the church is of german design.

I am off to france for a week now so will continue when I come back.
Have Fun while I am away and look forward to playing some maps with you all on my return.

still working hard on the map.

done 95% of the buildings and terrian is finished. this will be a lot different but still keeping the same basic layout of townville.

I am now working with my son on the project and he has had some great ideas to make it bigger and more intense. We have added 2 Factories train station and a river at one end of the map.

We have also decided to make 2 versions of it, One Infantry only and one Combined arms. there will not be to many tanks involved as the map is not realy suited for large tank battles, but we think as I know mike does that most battles involved vehicles to some degree and this would make things feel more realistic.

with tne narrow streets in some areas Infantry would have to support tanks and vise versa, or they would not last long at all.

I will post some updated Screenies soon, but we want to get nearly everything in place before releasing any more info. as bare terrain and blocks do not show off a map to its best lol.

Thanks for the update... please remember that 800x600 res pics are ample to show the best of the grafx and of course, are easy on the forum and its margins. :wink1:

Your new map has all the earmarks of a successful, well planned endeavor.

Sorry for the last lot of too big SS mike.
Hope these two are ok.

Most buildings are now finished, terrain done and painted.
Now for the Objectives, Spawns and all the cover and vegitation.

I am trying to add something different, But am having problems linking a trigger to an event and mover. Hope I can figure it out as it will be something that maybe will be very handy for some other upcomming maps.

There will be 5 Objectives plus an Optional one, if everything works out correctly.
Russians will be Attacking and Germans will be defending (not a lot for them to recapture and will have to run them dry or timeout for a win.)

As you can see I have deviated from the original quite a bit, But thought it would make for better gameplay by adding different buildings and routes.

I should have the first beta ready for you in 2 days.
I will post a link here for it.

what I would like is for you to run it for a few days to check Objectives,Spawns and everything else work ok.

I have lost all of my servers now, so can not test anything other than in the editor.
So all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like any feedback on all aspects of the map (is there enough cover, does it feel right and any other suggestions)

Thanks again Mike and everyone, will be in touch soon.

No problem.... you get it to me and I'll put the map in rotation for you. So far the new map is gorgeous... now, to see if gameplay is "up to snuff".

The textures in the church look a bit to clean and brightscratch them up a bit and add some dirt so the church looks used.

if you want to make any brick textures theres a tool that a USA brick company has on its site that has multipul brick types, styles and mortar its very usefull. You just have to scale them down and dirty them up. http://www.brick.com/md/md2.swf
