Narva 17th March 1944

Otto Carius one of Germany's highest decorated tank aces, was to hold a frontage against a mass of russians with limited infantry and his few tiger tanks in his platoon.

In this action, over 3 days he personally amassed over 30 tank kills.

I would like any server admins or clan admins who can test this map and provide feedback, on gamplay.

The Tiger Tank has a new skin, also has been modified, will need to move the 4 aHMT files into the system directory.

Improved armour
Turret rotation inline with maximum turn
Improved Penetration
Gear Ratio heavier
New Winter Skin

Currently no BOT support, will do after Gameplay established.

Need to get an understanding on

time for map (full server)
reinforcements
Objective exploits

OK, I just now looked RO-Narva over and must say it looks very nice. The sky box makes you feel COLD, REAL COLD... the sky is clear.... but the wisps of high, wind blown clouds tell you its Cold, Cold Cold!

The map is huge.. I feel it could do with a few more tanks... two possibly three more Tigers and 6 T34/85s for the Russians. The 76's were lame. This maps has the makings of an epic tank battle map with heavy infantry support. That to me, spells out a classic in the works.

Vivid has outdone himself once again. This map is in our rotation and will stay there - especially for this weekend..

Let's hear your comments;

:d Hi Mike, thanks for the kind words.

I have put out a fix for those hole bugs, sorry for that.

http://www.germansoldiers.net/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=75

Also as far as a good tank battle map it would probably be a good hard fight, your probably right on this.

My thoughts I have listed in the RO forums.

I will still be continuing along the lines in main map as for what was provided in a historical point of view.

hahah you know how much I am a stikler for this, or talking out of my arse as some on these forums have commented hehehe (The old historical map debate) found it as I was skimming yesterday.

(For the record was not jealous of the attention once, was concerned the public would stiffle map design by wanting similar made maps) (Was wrong) :o

Anyway.....

But if I was to modify this special map for RGN, what load out would you like to have. :d

PTRD's are a must.

For? They wont penetrate the tiger. Or is it against the HT's

Remember this is an uparmoured Tiger to the Tripwire version, and PTRD's will just ping off. (as they would of in real life)

Perhaps for the RGN special version yes they would be.

I love to blow up the HT gunners. I have no idea why but theres nothing funnier to shoot the gunner with a PTRD. Also the PTRD would be effective against the tiger. open a hatch and i'll show you. Also thanks for asking for our opinions

Dickie,

I asked for the PTRD and a few other changes.... we might even wind up with a few more tanks too. I put a newer version on the server this morning. It should pop right in... the holes are fixed and we have extra troop transport.

Ok had a chat to the team, B2 will come out with two versions, CA and Tank.
This keeps the team happy, as we are here to make "historic versions not just good maps" and hopefully gives you guys a map which is damn awesome and not just good. (you know how it is everyone has there own perspective of what is great)

The CA version will have a PTRD as a the option, changing the infantry spawns a little for the Germans which is a closer run.

But still the same amount of tanks, I played as the Germans tonight with my team mates as tank driver and commander they got creamed by the 4 T-34s and won the map easily on 17 minute mark.

One of the better gunners and myself as driver jumped in and we had a very very tough fight but managed to kill all 20 T-34s by the 24 minute mark.

I think the time needs to be brought down by the 22-23 minute mark.

Any more tanks would impact the 32 players server as there doesn't seem to be enough infantry.

----------------

Tank version will be similar to ARAD 8 tanks and 2-4 inf positions. This is non historic so we don't care on the load outs.

But my thoughts are.

1 Tiger
5 PIVH's
2 Stugs

1 T34/85
2 SU76
5 T34/76

The 85 can penetrate frontally as it is.

Positions of Infantry
AT Soldier - PTRD
Assault (Satchels) both sides

and re-spawning panzerfaust in each objective.

Please add your thoughts... I am interested if you think these load outs would be correct.

Sounds good to me! :wink1:

We played this map again this morning... for three and a half hours.

There are two of the bomb craters that are too deep or the walls are too steep... Tanks and people both get trapped in them. But then, that adds to the realism.

Please, your suggested load out sounds great.... Go For It. :bravo:

How about giving one sniper per team? Great looking map.

Great suggestion. This map is made for that too.
