A user recently bought a new game called Age of Pirates Caribbean tales its a cool naval pirate game the company that made it http://www.akella.com/en/ and published by Playlogic they started with a game called SeaDogs and then made Pirates of the Caribbean and then Age of Pirates. After installing this game he noticed alot of PC troubles. It would constantly reboot, and the DVD player started getting slow along with other games he had started to act goofy!

He discovered that Age of Pirates had installed a set of protection drivers on his PC called "Starforce".

Now its understandable there is a need for publishers to protect a game so it can't be pirated but these drivers are, in most cases, installed without the knowledge and permission of the user. When installing the game the Starforce drivers have to be installed on your system or your game won't work. Now the sad part.. if you uninstall the game, the drivers are NOT removed along with the game, Incredibly, they're left behind. Shabby scripting.

If you don't know were to look, they eventually will grind your PC to a halt. He found a site that helped find those drivers and he was able to remove them. The site that was helpful: http://www.glop.org/starforce/ please, read the entire article and then on the top right they show games also plagued with those harmful drivers.

yes those are some very ugly drivers. they were in the first gtr racing game. good game but alot of people had problems when they installed it. found out it was starforce doing it. you can take them out but u have to read the fine print on how to do it. so i will not buy a game that has those in there.:no way:
