RE: Red Orchestra 2 Custom Maps;
As found on the TWI forum..."all maps need to be recooked to be compatible with the new engine cooking process we use (to allow for smaller downloads to the clients)."
Any maps that have been re-cooked and released subsequent to the massive update yesterday (July 27, 2012).. will appear here in our RGN RO2 Custom map Depository.
Mappers; Please read.....
All great thoughts include all sorts of eye candy for maps, mortars, smoke, custom destructibility, neat animations, fires and fog.. but at WHAT COST resource wise? For example, Tank maps already eat up plenty of resources.. just look at the difference in pings and fps compared to infantry maps.Today's mappers have to take a "Solomon-like" approach when working with elaborate animations, grafx and effects. With tanks, the interior grafx and animations take up resources - plenty of resources. Smoke eats up resources like crazy. Low fps, poor pings and poor optimization kill a map faster than imagined. Immersion is great but gameplay is far more important with repeat gameplay being the most important consideration.
Server Admins will agree that repeat playability is key to keeping a Server populated. Seeing players leave when certain maps come up tells a very true "the tale of the tape". A simple but effective indication that says oh, so much.
Repeat Playability is key to a map's success and longevity.

Personally?? I like the MKB and was very disappointed when they took it away from TL's ....Mappers should especially pay attention to forcing "their" preferences on weapon types in load outs for custom maps... Let the players choose. Too many custom maps are appearing with truly popular and favorite weapons (MKB, AVT, etc.) missing or severely limited. New players and old alike enjoy the great variety of weapons TWI is famous for. Why disappoint when its so easy to gain more players enjoying your map creations? Give 'em the weapons - let the players choose.
I enjoy the MKB - unfortunately, after losing its use in TL, etc., I am now seeing it completely missing in a number of custom maps. Not nice. Its a good alternative to the MP40.
If I wanted to see it get gone... I'd be playing Classic. I like many others, enjoy Realism mode and the MKB - for me, its all about enjoying the GAME not history and certainly not ballistic science.
Enjoying the game and REPEAT playability is what its all about.

RO2 Steam Workshop is broken - Not implemented correctly.
All other games work quite well in Workshop.
Unsubscribe from all maps in RO2 Workshop.
You can leave the subscriptions to the mutators active.
Clear your Cache and Maps folders
Download the maps at the RGN RO2 Custom Maps Forum (http://www.raidersmerciless.com/forumdisplay.php?f=410)
Place the maps in the maps folder and the support files in the Packages folder.
OR, Use only those Servers offering a well managed redirect service.

The constant re-downloading and hassles will cease.
