NOT BUY anything Activision/Blizzard.
What they have done to the PC Online Community is an outrage.
They need a wake up call.

I have canceled all 3 copy's that i pre-ordered.
I hope everybody does this. What pisses me off is that they wait till the last min with this info. I know they knew about the IWnet long before they had the pre-order option.
So to me that is an insult thinking we are too stupid to read the intentions behind all this console non ****ing sense.
PC gamers are adults that pay for their kid's console games. Well i know that i will not buy my son the game on the console either.
Time to play some Vietnam & CODW@W.

Shouldn't be too hard for me to boycott AV. CoD games where the only title I purchased from them and I am sure as hell not gonna buy that smoldering pile of fail called MW2. :fu: AV!
Same here. Most of my clan guys are not buying MW2 either. A few said they would for the SP, so I might get some feedback about the MP side of things.

I live in a very agricultural part of my country......402 comes from a land of fairy dust and cheap drugs. Some roots are so deep into the soil that root killer wont touch them.
The only way to get rid of our community now is to totally pull the plug. Do that and you will not see even a smidgen of the profits that the Activision shareholders are expecting to see.
Smart-mouth remarks like the one above mean nothing to me. I'm not even sure if you have an original thought to call your own. Personally I don't think that you have either the balls or the brains to make a statement like that on your own. I believe that you are merely doing what you are told to do by all those many people who are above you, the same ones who will not hesitate to cut you from existence if this whole MASTER PLAN of theirs falls flat on its ass.
I'm sure that you don't understand what is really going on and I'm sure that you think that you are in complete control of what is going down. You are nothing more than a talking head, a brainless twit who will find out the hard way that being used is the same as being screwed without lube.
Some day you, like Activision, will wake up and try to figure out where it all went wrong. You will discover, like other companies have done, that not all little kids that have consoles actually bought them by themselves. They have grownup parents that will see how a $60.00 game turns into a $500 money pit. Fleece the golden goose too extensively and the goose will die.
Destroy the PC side for whatever reasons you and your puppet masters think are valid and we will simply take our skills and devotion to a new game and continue to enjoy ourselves doing precisely as we are now. We will continue to do this free of charge.
I will not cry or wring my hands in frustration and anger. I am an adult and not a console junkie. I choose to spend my money on what I like and though it is not always wisely spent at least I have the choice to walk away from that which has turned cold to me. The important thing is that I have what Activision wants, namely my money. Activision forgot something important in the financial quest, they forgot that we also have brains and we are not the brainless lemmings that will just simply buy the latest game just because we have always bought it in the past.
Evolution is a wonderful thing, especially for those who understand the process. Call of Duty was a wonderful thing. It evolved, it grew, it flourished. Reason why? The console players made it what it is today by contributing new material, new mods, new ways to experience the experience!!!!!! NOT.....
Evolution, longevity, was achieved by the PC Community pushing the game, making new material, giving new ways to enjoy the game. We kept it fresh. Activision saw this and peed themselves with excitement that they could potentially make more money with no real expense to themselves. They will shit their pants when they see where this line of reasoning leads their profit estimates into a deep color of red.
I have no real banner to fly on this battlefield or quagmire. I have enjoyed the game for many years, I have enjoyed making a few maps, I have enjoyed helping out in some small manner. I will not lose any money by not buying this game. I have no stake in what is happening. I have nothing invested to lose. I hope that everything works out for those who stand to lose much.
This may be the end of an era. It has been a good run for the most part. The one thing that Activision can not charge for or profit from is the very good and very important friendships that I have made over the years.
I will continue to do what I do and lend my support in whatever form I can but if this is the beginning of the end for what we once knew as Call of Duty then I will rest easy knowing that some very big heads at Activision will most likely be out of a job and a career because they lost sight of what it really means to be a gaming studio.
Remember this Activision......It is not the game alone that makes the money, it is the living fleshy parts that put up the cash.

Why petition it they don't give a rats ass about us at all. if you want to HURT them DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT BUY THEIR GAME! It will put them into financial ruin, trust me.
If no one will buy it, it will devastate them and we can control the way they make and sell games as they will have no choice but do as the Player or should i say the CUSTOMER asks or wants. We actually as customer can grab activision by the balls and squeeze and they will jump at every whim. until the customer or the gamers realizes this the bullshit from them will continue. :Outstanding!:

World at War map packs sell over 4 million
By by Rangebar Merani
According to Activision, the map packs have sold over 4 million copies over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
Wow, that’s a whole lot of cash money just on DLC maps. We can only guess that Map Pack 3 will boost these numbers
and most likely sell a few million more copies.
Infinity Ward needs to learn from what Treyarch has done with World at War and make sure
they offer plenty of DLC with Modern Warfare 2 because it’s sure to sell just as much, if not more.
Monkey sees Monkeys Do!
4 milions x 9,99 $ = :fu::fu::fu::fu::fu::fu::fu:
They not only want to do that, they also wants the PC community in the revenue list.

COD is the only Activision product series on my buy list. Thankfully I didn't pre MW2...learned my lesson on that with 5....little point in being in a hurry since they keep releasing unfinished products. Now they've progressed into releasing a D.O.A. product. I'm done with'em...

Finally, someone has the right idea. I say we all join hands and mod it to run on dedicated servers, and make it our own way. They want to turn this pc game in to a consoled-type game play, so that people can't hack it (so they say). I say that is not the way to go. All they are doing is making it harder for communities to grow and collaborate. Even consoles have hacks. By my research, it is easier to hack a 360 than that of a pc. With all of that said…
Lets all show them the error of their own chaos!
I don't think that they are worried about hackers. Its all about the dollar. Hosting companies don't buy a copy for each servers.
That's where they are losing money.

Indulge me,
How old is the engine in COD: BO that it still has to use dx9.0c and not use dx11?
It is possible to make a dx11 game with dx9.0c support!

I seem to remember in Cod2 you had a choice of playing dx9,or dx7.
wakka
11-19-2010, 03:13 PM
Well I can understand dx9
DX10.1 and DX11 cards people have but more have DX9
When you look how they modify the engine
They would have to write shaders etc to work with DX9/10/11
that means investing time and testing.
Both these cost money
Just a point
Mike Nomad

wakkla, the key is to stay contemporary if you are going to charge contemporary prices....
For $60.00, users should see DX11 and downward compatibility (either auto or by choice) to DX9. That seems it would be the right thing to do. :wink2:

The directX thing doesn't really bother me. CoD:WaW still looks great - many graphical enhancements really just consist of higher res textures and higher poly models. The new DX versions do add things like better bump and spec maps but I'm not convince they are worth making people upgrade their systems.
DX11 is a huge leap from DX9 (just have to look at a few screenshots), but DX10 was only a small improvement (despite extensive under the hood changes). Currently less than 6 percent of users have a DX11 system (Steam hardware survey) - I can't see developers investing time and money to create a multiple DX version game for this number of users at the current time.
P.s. There is still a problem with the forum software parsing html entities. Percent Signs show as %
